
Hercules: The Legendary Journeys was a syndicated TV series that ran on the USA Network from January 16, 1995 to November 21, 1999. With five "Action Packed" movies produced in 1994. The show was very loosely based on the tales of the classical Greek hero Hercules and became one of the highest rated syndicated shows in television history. The show stared Kevin Sorbo as Hercules, and Michael Hurst as Iolaus.
The series is set in a fantasy version of ancient Greece with time lines and setting that go against the “classical” version. The show revolved around the war between Hercules and Hera with Hera killing his wife and children in the very first episode. The many Greek gods also get involved with Hercules during his journeys including his nemesis Ares god of war as well as monsters, thieves, gold diggers, fallen kings and many more.
